In the United Methodist faith, all are welcome at the Lord’s Table; people of all ages share in the sacrament of Holy Communion. Some families would like their children to celebrate first communion after a time for instruction or preparation. If you are looking for such an opportunity for your children, we invite you to join us at “Young Christians and Communion.” To encourage families to share the sacrament, we will gather on Saturday, March 6, at 11:00am to bake bread together, in anticipation of breaking bread together the following morning.
While the bread rises, we will share a light lunch, hear some stories about Communion and reflect on the meaning of sacrament in our lives. Children who are in Second Grade and above, and their parents, are invited to participate (Child care is available by reservation for younger children). Families will present the loaves in worship on Sunday morning, March 7. Please register at the Registration Station in the hallway by the Church Office. During Lent, when we remember Jesus last supper with his disciples, is a particularly appropriate season for all persons to celebrate Holy Communion together.
