SOLAR PANELS GENERATE OVER 500 kWh OF ELECTRICITY IN MAY

Our solar panels were turned on April 28th and generated over 700 Kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in the month of May. Here are some interesting statistics as of June 14th:

The panels have generated enough energy to date to light 3,725 bulbs for a day. This is the equivalent of planting about 47 trees. CO2 emission salved is 864 Kilograms (Kg), thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

Other interesting statistics:

  • The panels are expected to produce about 24,480 kWh per year in net savings to the church.
  • The average dollar savings is about $3,105 per year or $46,575 over 15 years.
  • The panels will generate about 10.6% of our energy consumption per year.
  • The panels are warranted for 25 years and require very little maintenance.

The projected payback is about 15 years based on current information available regarding the cost of electricity and projected increases over the next several years. SRECTrade tracks the amount of energy generated each month. We will receive credits to our electric bill from Nordic, our supplier of electricity.
