Part-Time Children's Music Ministries Coordinator  

The Mission of First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights is to be a nurturing and inclusive community, actively connecting faith and life, and empowering our congregation to serve in the world. We are seeking your God-given talents as a part-time Children’s Music Ministries Coordinator to support and expand our children’s music ministry. You will rehearse and direct with children as well as coordinate other choir directors. Schedule requirements during the school year: Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30 am at least twice per month. Wednesday evenings from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Minister of Faith Formation in the smooth functioning of the JAM program.
  • Assists the Minister of Faith Formation with music for Vacation Bible School.
  • Recruits, nurtures, hires, trains, and coordinates the children and youth choir directors. Provides church newsletter articles that inform, inspire, or highlight our music programs and participants.
  • Jesus Ringers (youth bell choir) – rehearse during JAM, selecting/arranging music selections, maintain equipment, teach musicianship and music reading skills as appropriate, maintain equipment
  • Assists the Music Director in the purchase of music, maintenance of inventory, purchase of supplies and instruments and maintains databases.
  • Coordinates volunteers and helps staff Celebration Station after worship on Sundays

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skills in music, preferably including Bells
  • Experience with programming for youth preferred
  • Self-motivated, reliable and able to take initiative as well as work with teams and staff.

 

Job Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Part-time (paid per hour)
  • Attend staff and music team meetings as needed
  • Evening and weekend work are required
