ries: Gospel on Broadway
Thoughts About God from the Musical Stage. The lyrics of Fiddler on the Roof speak of the value of tradition and the challenge of knowing when to embrace change. Les Misèrables tells a story of forgiveness and redemption. Beauty & The Beast is a story of transformation, and Man of La Mancha invites us to join Don Quixote in continuing to "Dream the Impossible Dream." During this summer series the stories and songs of Broadway will be woven into worship, interspersed with scripture and the proclamation of Good News!

Series: Songs of Faith & Freedom
We will explore the connections between faith and music. Music shapes a culture and is the product of the culture itself. The blues comes from a sense of suffering and the tragic. We will listen to the blues to find God in the midst of our troubles. Gospel music reminds us that no matter the trial, there is hope of a better day. Come and hear the faith that by God’s grace, the future is one of freedom. As we move into the future, we do so knowing what has come before, but being prepared to deal with future eventualities. Jazz helps us learn how to improvise as we move forward in faith.

August 15 Singing the Blues

August 22 The Gospel of Freedom. Immediately following worship, head to downtown Chicago for the House of Blues Gospel Brunch.

Welcome CenterOpen Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.
We welcome all and we’d love to welcome you. Come as you are.
Join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings for our worship celebration.

Expect that sermons and pastoral reflections will be challenging. We have a long history in the United Methodist Church of Spirit-seeking, social justice and mission emphasis. Hear some great music offered by choirs of all ages, vocal and bells, from Cherubs to Senior High to the Chancel Choirs. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. The Table is not ours but Christ’s and ready and open to all.

For those with children, please visit our Festival program to learn about children's Sunday school or stay together as a family in worship. Either way is fine. We know that God has put the wiggles and giggles in children. Our ushers can offer you colorful Worship Bags to use during the service, if you choose.

If you have special needs, just ask our friendly ushers for large-print resources and listening assistive devices. We also offer special treats during coffee hour (after service) for those with dietary restrictions. All are welcome to meet and greet during coffee hour.
