Robert Aaron Taylor | Music Director

I can’t tell you just how excited I am to be joining the staff of FUMCAH as your new Music Director. My wife, Michelle, grew up and was confirmed in this church. We’ve been looking for a church home with a progressive theology and now God has blessed me with the opportunity to contribute to the worship experience at FUMCAH. In a way, it really feels like coming home. I had the pleasure of working with some of your choir members as part of the interview process and I hope you realize what an amazing group of musicians you have leading you in worship each week! I can’t wait to start working with these dedicated people on a weekly basis!
I grew up in Chattanooga, TN, received my Bachelor of Music from Berry College in Rome, GA, then I met Michelle while we were working on our Master of Music degrees at Indiana University. Since then, we’ve had the good fortune of working with some of the most recognizable names in the classical music industry and we feel a responsibility to share the wealth of knowledge that these amazing people have shared with us. We moved to Illinois about 10 years ago and opened a private voice studio. We’ve been teaching full-time since 2019, which is also when we bought our very first home. We have no children of our own (unless you count our fur-baby, Stella Luna… which we do!), but we see our students as our kids. Since we also teach online, we have kids all over the world and we really couldn’t be prouder of their many and varied accomplishments.
I’m afraid I’ve already exceeded my space allotment in the newsletter, so I’ll finish by saying that I really look forward to meeting each of you and sharing more of our stories with one another.
