Soothing Stitches: Prayer Shawl Ministry

As shawls are knitted or crocheted, images of healing, compassion, and joy are prayed into the stitches. The work of our hands blesses the heart of each shawl’s recipient. Join our circle of knitters and crocheters at church or work on your project at home and add your handiwork to our next shawl blessing. In addition to shawls, Soothing Stitchers create hats for new babies, mittens, and caps for Spirit Lake mission, prayer squares (something new this year!) and other loving gifts. Our shawls have gone to Appalachia with our Appalachia Service Project Mission Team and to South Korea with a member. Shawls go to members of our church family, and their friends and family as an expression of our care and prayers.

Social Groups.

POSH (Parents of Small Humans)

We are a group for Parents of Small Humans - preschool and younger - who are looking for connection to those in a similar boat. Everything from teething babies to those first pre-school days can be a joy and/or a challenge, so community is important! This group is where you can find support, advice, or a sympathetic ear - all judgement free, and perhaps an hour or two of escape from the world of parental responsibility.

Act 2

Get caught in the act…Act 2 that is. This social group is primarily for those in their 50s and 60s, many of whom are in their second act – juggling older kids, grown kids, new careers, and even grandkids. While we have no regular schedule, we typically meet 4-5 times per year. Our activities include events like comedy shows or bowling to low key game nights and pizza parties. Join us for one or several events. One thing we guarantee is that you will have fun and meet great people. Don’t sit on the sidelines. Get into the Act…Act 2.
