Sunday Morning Ministry

Volunteer Opportunites

  • If you are new, thanks for signing up!! We can pair you up with an experienced volunteer to show you the ropes. Please contact Beth and she'll fix you up. It is not that difficult, and you do not have to buy supplies or bake anything. Beth’s contact information: 773-569-5559 and emwilliams74@sbcglobal.net.

The steps are easy: show up a little early to church to set up and get the water heating. Then leave the worship service a few minutes early to hit the button on the coffee maker and put out any other items needed. Cleanup is quick and easy - use the dishwasher for most of it!

We are serving coffee, lemonade, and treats (donuts, cookies, muffin, cheese, etc). Most of the treats are in the freezer that just need to be removed before the start of worship.

Feel free to sign up for more than one slot. A notebook of directions is available in the coffee bar. Please reach out to Beth with any questions!

  • The Worship Tech Team supports FUMCAH's worship services by operating the sound equipment, running the video stream, and controlling the projections in the Sanctuary.

Setup begins by 7:45am on most Sundays, please plan on arriving by 8:00am to be able to provide sound to the rehearsing musicians, prepare for the service, and practice controlling the equipment.

Instructions for setting up and operating the equipment for a service are here.

If this will be your first time on the Worship Tech Team, please contact chris rice at c.rice@fumcah.com.

  • We're asking youth to sign up 1-2 times a month.

    • Arrive at church no later than 9am

    • Wear Safe Shoes (no flip flops)

    • Stay after service to clean up

    • Perform additional duties as needed, specifically assisting Becky Johnson and Pastors

  • Do you like to be behind-the-scenes? Do you like to know when you're needed months in advance? Our team of communion preparers are in need of helpers and this position could be just right for you! Serving is 1-2 times a year and is a wonderful way to be involved in service for your church and with your family. Let us know you're interested at fumcah.com/communion.

Communion is one of our sacraments, which we celebrate on the first Sunday of each month. Communion reminds us of our union with Christ and the sacrifice made for our salvation.

Communion elements are prepared in the Sacristy before the service. The volunteer arrives before 8:45am and brings 4 round loaves of Hawaiian bread and a bottle of grape juice. The loaves are sliced for the pastors and placed in baskets, and the juice is poured into the four chalices. They are placed on the altar along with a few other items. After the service, the acolytes bring the baskets and chalices back to the Sacristy where cleanup is done.

Please contact Linda Bettenhausen (847-705-7241 or ljbett127@sbcglobal.net) with any questions.
