Our mission focus for August is Solar Oven Partners, one of UMC’s Global Advance Projects, operating in the Dominican Republic, Sierre Leone, and the northwestern lands of the Navajo Nation. Their goal is to empower people to use solar energy to meet their cooking needs. The positive impacts of using solar ovens are many: cost savings on fuel to cook daily meals, pasteurizing drinking water, avoiding smoke inhalation from cooking with fire, and conservation to stem the tide of deforestation. For additional information, please go to their website, solarovenpartners.org.
